The Rain in Spain...

I feel bad for not doing an update in a while. But I have good excuse...really!!! Well that cold that kept on sticking around. It got worse and I knew it was time to find a doctor. Praise the Lord for an English speaking doctor from the Netherlands. The receptionist was really sweet too...soo very friendly and spoke great English. And I have never come across a doctor with amazing bed side manners...well I was not at the hospital in a bed...just in a little clinic. But he said "you are sick"...hahah well I kinda knew that :)!!!! But what's wrong? :) He said I have some bronchitis/pneumonia. Wonderful!!!! So I have been on medication for almost a week...and it seems to be working. I think it might take a bit for the cough to go. My ribs and back are a bit sore from the coughing. I am actually getting pretty well a full nights sleep now! Praise the Lord!!

OK so I was sitting at the doctors office waiting room. I was looking at some of the poster/pictures around the small room. Nothing in English...but this little picture and words on it...it made me giggle a little.
It said:
Wife: What'cha goin to do today?
Husband: Nothin much
Wife: That's what you did yesterday
Husband: I wasn't finished!

Last Sunday I was heading out the door to go to church. I have about a 7-8 minute walk to the train. I was getting picked up about 3 stations over by a dear older couple that I have gotten to know and love. Anyway! as I was trying to get out the door...both little boys did not want me to leave but if I had to go they wanted to come with me. Awww!!!! Then as I walked out the main door of the building and started walking to the main gate to the apartment....All three kids were standing on the balcony yelling...yes yelling! "Miss Sarah come back here, you can't go"!! I just waved and said Love you and I will be back later; see you soon!! Love these kids :)

Food...ok so I tasted two different Bratwurst in the past week. Not bad!! Kinda like a healthy hotdog :) if there is such a thing! Also when I was at the grocery store I picked up some cheese called "Camembert". I looked it up on the Internet. Apparently it is cheese from France. I will let you look it up. It's not to bad...I'm just not sure I would buy a whole bunch of it next time though.
Yesterday after supper I asked David (triplets dad) why when they set the table at every evening meal they put a fork and a spoon...I seriously had no idea what to use it for...especially when it's not usually a soup. So apparently it's a custom in the Philippians to push the rice with the fork into the spoon. Rosa (triplets mom) lived in the Philippians for a few years...so they picked up this custom as a family.

Hey! guess what? In Spain it does not just rain in the plain....it rained a couple of days this week.

For those of you who normally play board games. I am not much of a board game person...but I played Settlers for my first time. Not bad. I will have to get these people playing some Dutch Blitz and Mennonite madness! ;)

It's been a Month now!

This week has been eventful!

Walked down to the beach and had a yummy English breakfast. Rosa and I walked down and found a lovely little restaurant called The Cozy Nook. It's a British restaurant with English speaking people!!! yay! The food was awesome. You could pick 6 items for you plate for 4.50. Two pieces of bacon...sooo good! They are not your regular sized pieces of bacon, much bigger. Scrabbled eggs, baked beans, and a hash brown...never tasted such a wonderful tasting hash brown before...seriously.
OK!! Have you ever heard of Black Pudding?? NO I did not try it!! I asked what it was...Blood...Humm ya..no I will pass!!!

We walked by one place called Fish Spa...in my head I was like...really I am not sure your pet fish really needs any pampering. But then Rosa said she wanted to show me this place. OK I was wrong. You put your feet in these fish tanks...and these little fish give you a pedicure. It's like 10.00 for 10 or 20 min. Hummm...I might be brave one of this days and try it...don't worry there will be pictures!!!

This week we started homeschooling!!! So far so good it is going great. Lots of prep work but the kids are doing great. Yesterday after just the second day I hear Jonathan as he was going potty...yes he was singing his bible verse!!! Praise the Lord...it's sticking. Also when they came home from going out for Chinese food, Rosa said that the kids were saying this at the restaurant table, Sticky, Sticky Bubble Gum (it's a catchy little song with actions).

Funny story!! Sure had a good laugh about it...this is Rosa's facebook statue about it.
"The kids have been "other people" recently. Today Sierra announces she's Mom and Jonathan announces he is Daddy. So we are leaving the house and in the elevator to the car I look over at them and they are kissing! Then Michael says "I'm Daddy too...and leans over and kisses Sierra." Ha, the things Kids pick up.

I laughed and told them they need to leave the kissing in the family. We were on our way to our first day of "homeschooling" with a friend and I could just imagine Sierra smooching with Peter who is also in our home school class."

So when I first got here they asked me what I was like to be called. Sarah was good...but it sounds too much like Sierra and it would be confusing at times. So I could be Aunt Sarah...but I thought a minute. Back home in Canada I am "Miss Sarah" to a couple of dear families. So that's what I am here now!!! :) So as we were preparing the homeschooling the kids asked if I was going to be their teacher and I said yes. So my name is getting longer by the day...sometimes I am "Miss Sarah Teacher".

One thing that I noticed about Spain. When I was down at the beach the other day. Southern Spain is like the "Florida" of Europe. Lots of "snow birds". I sat on a bench...and people watched for a bit...you hear so many languages as they walk by.

Today is Valentine's Day. David & Rosa are so sweet! They got me a little thing of chocolates and potted flower plant with little purple and flowers. I bought a Spanish style pot a while back...I think I will transfer it into that.

For those of you that I know are praying. A couple of things would be... My cold...it kinda went away and then it came back...I am hoping I am at the tail end of it now. Also my Grandma passed away just before I left for Spain...so I was having a bit of a rough day the other day.

Life is never Boring!!

So I am not very good at this bloging thing but I'm trying!

Each day in itself is an adventure!!
The other day I got on the train all my myself and made it to Terremolinos...two stations away! And made it home too!! So proud of myself :) I went there to meet up with a new friend. We walked through some of the small streets the line with small shops and cafes. So many things to see and taste. It was not to far and then I see the Medeterraniean Sea...beautiful!!! I decided that it was as good a time as any...I took off my sandles and put my feet in the water! O Cold...I suppose it should be considering it was the last day of January! But it was fun :)

Saturday we all went to the Fuengriola zoo. It's a pretty small zoo but they have done a good job with the space they have. They have no big animals like girrafes or elephants. But they have a couple of tigers, garillas, hippos and aligators...to name some of the big animals. At one point we were given a little tour and went in the same area as the lemurs. That was an experience...watching them jump from tree to tree and hoping that they would not miss their target...cause we were right under the trees. All the animals seemed to do what they do best...but the one garilla seemed to be in a bad mood...he was just sitting on the other side of the glass as the triplets had a little snack. But he was totally giving me the evil eye!!! In my head I was like "OK it's time to leave NOW!" lol...and we have season passes to this place!! ooo it will be ok...just caught him on a bad day ;)

Funny story. So the kids and I were playing on the balcony. Jonathan and Sierra were the barbers, and I can't remember what Michael was. And I was the farmer. But anyway Jonathan was cutting the teddy bears fur with a clothes pin. Then I turned around and he was poking at the bears nose with the clothes pin. I asked him what he was doing. So according to him another part of being a barber is to pick noses too. So you can get your haircut and nose cleaned out all in one appointment! Bonus!!! lol

So on Sunday afternoon I thought it would be lovely to go for a little walk. Well!!! it turned into more like a 5 hour walk...not on purpose! I found my way down to the beach from were I live which was great. But then I got curious and started walking down the boardwalk looking at all the shops and restaurants as I walked along. Then I seen a cute street and then another cute street and then another street...you can see the pattern! Then I came across a main road of some sort and kept walking in the direction I thought was the way home...well it was the right way...I just didnt realize how far I had actually walked the one way. On Sundays most stores and shops are closed but for the odd few, there are more open when you are right on the beach (for the tourists). But anyway I was on this road with no stores open and there were random people few and far between...and I just kept walking. I got to a point that I thought...just around the corner I would see something I knew. So I went down one street and up the other. Then there was a guy that I felt knew where he was going...so I stayed back but followed him up the hill for a while. Then he was gone. I stopped beside a beautiful park and just stood there for a bit to catch my breath and think for a minute. By that time I needed water and finally convinced myself that I was lost and I needed to talk to someone just to point me in the right direction. I didn't need to find anyone. One guy just stopped and said hi to me and then that gave me a chance to ask! Praise the Lord. I was actually not far from where I needed to be. I got some water and I was on my way. So I left my house about 1pm and got home about 5pm. Slept good that night!!! This wont stop me from going out again...But if I am lost...I will call someone to come and get me...I had a phone with me, I just kept on convincing myself that just around the corner I would see something I knew. My goodness...put me out on a country road somewhere and I will not get lost...put me in the city and this is what happens! I'm sure once I am here longer I will be just fine!

The kids got new tricycles for Christmas. So they have been learning how to ride them and they are doing sooo good...and they absolutly love them! All in their favorite colors. Sierra with her pink. Michael with green and Jonathan with orange.

One Monday I will be starting to homeschool the triplets and their friend Peter who is about the same age. It will only be a couple of hours three times a week because the triplets go to a Spanish nursery school three mornings a week. I am looking forward to it and I am sure with that there will be lots of stories.
