Yesterday was quite the day! Both of the boys stayed home with David in the morning as they are just getting over slight fevers. So the number of students home schooled was considerably lower!!!
As I was looking after all three later that morning and afternoon...well to say the least it was eventful!!! Jonathan was having a tough day and was not feeling 100%. So he was not the happiest little guy. At one point they had the great idea that they would climb on the back of the couch...that was until the rather large and heavy picture frame fell off the wall!!!! No one got hurt. Then as I went to go answer the 2 minute phone call from their dad seeing how things were going... THEN...I go back to the balcony...AND ALL three kids are covered with BBQ ashes as well as much of the floor. Sooo I marched them to the bathroom to wash their faces and hands and then stripped all the clothes off and got them in clean ones. By that time it was slightly early for nap time...but it was nap time!!! We all had a great nap and then it was time for round 2. We did a craft. Then a little while later as I tidied up some of the crafts...Humm!! well I could hear the kids on the balcony But I couldn't see them. I go out! and All three are standing on the table...possibly playing church...not sure...but I did not want to find out. For those of you that don't know. Their small balcony over looks a busy street and there is a restaurant just below us as well.
I just took a deep breath and said "Tomorrow is a new day"!!! And so far so good!!! :)
Those couple of pictures don't really show how dirty they really were. Look at these sad faces!!
On another note! The other day we went over for a visit to a dear Muslim ladies home. She also had another friend over as well. They were sooo sweet :) Very beautiful people!! I did not understand everything that was said cause it was in Spanish. But I am understanding more and more as time goes on. SO we were invited for an afternoon snack at 5:00pm. A snack hey??? Well. It was very delicious. But I learnt something that day!!! This good little Canadian girl is polite and will eat everything on her plate and the one plate full in good enough. OK SO apparently in their culture...finishing your plate means that you are still hungry. I ate my share. Then the other guest insisted that I get more. I ate it all. By this time I am full!!! Then the host came in and seen that my plate was empty...took my plate and Piled the sucker up. OOO my. SO I decided I would politely eat half of it and leave the rest. I was glad Rosa was there and finally realised what was going on and told me I could stop eating and they would get the hint. A Snack hey? But she made a wonderful dish of kuskus, chicken, raisins in a sauce with caramelised onions and some vegetables. So good! Instead of chicken they usually have lamb normally. The host brought it out on a big plate and traditionally the kids get the plates and all the adults each have a spoon and eat from the big plate. She was very sweet enough to bring us each a plate of our own. The dishes had such beautiful designs on them. I wish I would have brought my camera.
So snack was not done yet!!! She brought out a dessert...I can't remember the name of it but it was tasty. And just when I thought that I would bust. It was tea time!!! The tea was very good and tasty...but that's not all there was. There were 2 loaf cakes, popcorn, cookies, and chips. It was such a lovely and memorable visit with these ladies. :)
I looked up on google a picture of kuskus to put on here for you...and what it looked like, minus the chicken and vegetables.
On Friday Rosa, the kids and myself. As well as a dear friend and her two kids went to a park near by. HUGE park!!! An awesome playground and so many other things to do as well. There were a few animals there...besides the pigeons! Those birds are everywhere!!! There were peacocks, emu, mountain goats, and a few bunnies hopping around. I did not get to see the whole park because it was so big. But I seen a water fountain and many neat flowers and plants. They also had some "art"...Big metal heads laying around. There were at least 3-4 of them. A couple of them the kids could walk into.
These a couple of pictures of the kids decorating eggs! It is very hard to find eggs with white egg shells here. SO they coloured the eggs with markers!!!
The one thing that I never did get a chance to do was so see an Easter parade. But I did go see other things like the park.
On Saturday I met up with a friend that was going to be a apart of an Easter program that two churches were putting on. Lots of music and dancing as well as one pastor shared a little.
One thing that I have figured out this weekend is that Spaniards love loud music. I love music and...I know that they are use to it being that loud...but my poor ears had the shock of a lifetime!!!
Boys playing soccer
On Sunday I went into Malaga with a few other people to a joint Easter service. All the Evangelical churches were having a outdoor Easter service. The place was packed! And again the music was super loud and I was not sitting in the front. But it was sooo neat to see all these people Praising the Lord!!! Near the end all the pastors went on stage...there were about 20. It was wonderful to see them all worshipping the Lord. The whole service was in Spanish. I understood a few things here and there.
I don't have many pictures from this service.
All the pastors
Later on the way back with friends...we had pigeons fly at us as we ate lunch, avoided a major accident with a car that was driving the wrong way on a major road (the lady in the passenger seat of that car was totally freaking out at her husband who was driving!!!!), we sat four people in the back seat that really only can sit 3...by laying the 16 year old boy across our laps. Yes pretty eventful!!!
I think that is pretty much all I have for now! The kids will be up from their nap soon :) Let the games begin!!!!
