She wanted LOTS of braids...so I put in 6!!!
He wanted to leave his mouth open for the picture
Then it turned into a Game :)
This past week was a busy one! A few more activities going on than normal. So the weekend was a welcome sight!!!
We went across the road to the water fountain with our sail boats. I am not sure if the sail boats or I got more wet...it's a toss up!!! But we all had fun
Kids Quotes and Stories
Jonathan has unique culinary tastes. One day he was serving pretend ice cream to both his parents and I. Well they both got mint chocolate chip and I got tuna ice cream!
Yesterday he was in the kitchen with Rosa as she made supper. He came out and I asked him what we where having for supper. He said potatoes, chicken... then added..we are having giraffe soup too. hum well I was positive that two of those were true... but not the last one. A bit later on all the kids were "cooking" whatever they could. Jonathan runs up to me and says..."Miss Sarah do you want some soup?" I quickly asked him what kind...being on the cautious side considering the last statements. He said "Toilet soup with cinnamon"!!! Umm...I think I'm going to pass on that one :)
While teaching a bible verse...I ask Sierra what she thinks Rejoice means...and she replies "catching shadows". We're going to have to work on that one!!!
Friday we were driving to our friends place about a 15 min drive. As we left the garage Sierra began telling a story...it pretty well took the whole drive to tell it!!!! The story line and characters continually changed. Rosa and I tried to hold back the giggles. At one point Rosa turned to her and said "Sierra take a breath and let your brother talk for a minute". Yes that lasted about 10 seconds! Then she just kept on telling the story like everyone was listening. Well we were for the most part...her brothers don't usually last through one of her long stories...!! Other times they will add in a character or situation. I really don't know how they do it. Great story tellers, very creative!
Thursday morning I walked the kids to Spanish school. That day turned out to be a very hot day at +32...and apparently it gets much hotter....not sure how I feel about that!!! And it's only May. This is my Canadian summer weather.
As I pushed the kids in their rather large stroller down the hill to the school...which is a 20-25 min walk. A brisk little walk...I think NOT!! haha I was huffing and buffing!! And thanks to my mum...when I get over heated my face gets all blotchy red...a beautiful sight to see :) In the mean time the three kiddos are sitting leisurely in their seats...waving to strangers on motorcycles and in cars...seriously!! All this before 9:30am!!! I can only giggle about it :)
On my walk back home I stopped by a grocery store to get a drink...cause I was dying of thirst. The cashier was sooo very kind to point out my blotchy face.
Friday I got out paper, markers and crayons. A simple fun craft for Mothers Day.
Michael insisted on wearing his dad's name tag...David & Rosa were attending a conference that day.
Yes a harmless art project...that turns into Bath Time!!! Marker on their hands, face, legs, neck...well pretty much everywhere!
Michael was the culprit...I should have known!!!
Then it was the weekend. Found my way to the airport...not getting on any plain. Just went there for Starbucks...can you believe it...it's been like 3 months since I had some of that deliciousness!!! Even though it's delicious...I think it's more that fact that I was craving something familiar. It did the trick!! Until you are thousands of miles of way from your "familiar" and "normal"... it's easy to take for granted what you have. Experiencing new things is wonderful...but is such a treat to have a taste of familiar.
Speaking of cultural differences. Ya I am in Spain but I had Indian food on Sunday. I went with my new Canadian friend Karyn and her other friend from Holland to a little Indian restaurant on the beach. Ok...so this was an authentic Indian restaurant...I ordered Chicken Curry...I had the choice of mild, med, hot, and very very hot (yes that's how it was written on the menu). My tolerance for spicy food is not so good...but I do love chicken curry...so I asked for mild. HA!!! mild hey? I drank so much water...I didn't make it very far after lunch before needing the little ladies room! But the chicken curry did taste really good!! And cheese naan bread...yum!
We went down the beach a ways then stopped to have a small cup of coffee...I am getting to like this Spanish coffee...even if I ask for it with a little bit of coffee and lots of milk. I don't think I could drink it straight...would probably send me to the doctor!!!! hahaha
It was kind of surreal to sit there looking at the Mediterranean Sea with a cup of coffee. While watching a couple of guys cooking fish on sticks over a fire. The majority of restaurants right on the beach have some sort of pit outside the building to cook the fish. Many of them are small boats filled to the brim with sand then they have wood & coal burning in the middle. The majority of the fish has been stabbed through the middle of them with a stick and is cooking over the fire.
Random people are starting to build sand sculptures... this is one that we came across...the picture is courtesy of Karyn. I asked the guy how long it took him to build it....2 days...that's it!!! Impressive.
For those that are supporting me through prayer. A prayer request for you. The culture in Spain is extremely liberal. On Sunday I came across more than my fill of it for one day. So when you think about me here in Spain...this culture is not necessarily the easiest one to live in with the very liberal life styles.
Now that it has taken me all day to write this!!! It time for the kids to get up from their nap :)
