Canada Day!
I feel incredibly blessed to have grown up in Canada. It was also great to celebrate with another Canadian here. We ate our maple leaf cookies with Maple Syrup icing...o so good! We shared them with some other friends that were visiting. We sang O Canada for them...ok maybe I did...my friend got past the second line and her mind went blank. I try not to rub it in too much! :)
Rosa told me that the kids had something to show me so I went into the living room. They were all wearing red and white!! Awww thanks guys...you are so very sweet! O and then she said that she taught them the Canadian kiss!! I was raking my brain...what was she talking about? Ah then I knew once all the kids gave me one...an Eskimo kiss!! Hahaha even though we are not Eskimos...I have never even seen one...and no we don't live in igloos. Well then again I could tell them we do and they would believe me cause they don't know any different!! But Thank you for celebrating Canada Day with me and making it memorable.
This is what happens when we take a picture!!Chaos!
Fourth of July!
I celebrated the Fourth of July with Smiths and some other American friends. We had a BBQ, and a American trivia game, and the kids played in a little kids pool.
Hey it looks like the Americans didn't know all the words to their anthem either! But they went full speed ahead and did the best they could. Good job guys :)
Not totally sure what Michael was doing at that moment...But he's looking very patriotic!!
So I'm not sure this is a good thing! So in the apartment there are 2 gates...one to the kitchen and one to the kids room. This is suppose to keep the kids either in or out at certain times. WELL!!! Michael has now discovered that he knows how to open these gates...and I have actually caught Jonathan now...so 2 kids down and one to go. O boy! Life has suddenly gotten more interesting!!!
In the kids bedroom there are nets above their beds that hold stuffed animals. The other morning I caught Michael...after the fact. But he had climbed on top of the dresser and had knocked all the animals out of Jonathan's net without pulling the net off the ceiling.
So the kids were playing out on the porch and were "play swimming". All of a sudden Michael comes out with all the swimming suits. Very creative...BUT those swim suits were in a bag hanging up in the closet!!! OOO what am I going to do with this Monkey!!
Michael: This is where my water wings go!!!
Jonathan's imitation of swimming!
This poor dog goes through everything...including Sierra's swim suit and water wings.
Ready! Set! Jump!!!
What else is occupying my life you say?? WELL in one word BUGS!!! Yes bugs. They thought my room was the perfect spot to hang out...and then take a few bites on my hands. I have found out that they are called Silverfish. But before I had come across to many I thought it was best to spray my room and all mattresses. That night it was too strong a smell in my room to sleep in it...So I camped out on my porch. It was fun! Sleeping in the fresh air and seeing a few stars in the sky. But little did I know what was ahead the next day. I started cleaning and dusting around my room a bit. Well that turned into an all out scrub down of my room! Every square inch of it!!! In total I killed 9 of those suckers. And by the end I was so incredibly grossed out that I was not sure I could sleep in my room that night...But I did and slept ok. I just try to not think of those squirmy little bugs to much...or else it gives me the heby jebies!!!
The camp out!!
This was my smiling face the night before my evil twin came out to destroy all bugs in my room!!! Or anything that moved for that matter...just a little freaked out :(
The major cleaning of my room was on Saturday morning...and so far no Silverfish bugs around...or none that I know of. I hope and pray that I got them all.
OK Enough talk about bugs!!! On Sunday after church I walk down to the beach which is only a couple of blocks down. Yes summer has come...and everyone and their dog has arrived...and I am not exaggerating about the dogs. It's crazy the amount of people that fly their pets to their vacation spot. But anyway! The beaches are so thick with people that you can hardly see the sand on the beach. Other than that it was a good day. It's starting to get really hot here...even by 9 or 10 in the morning it's almost hot enough to go swimming.
Here are a few pictures I took on Sunday afternoon!
Awesome Sand Castles
